Every April, we partner with Pickens County Schools to help raise awareness of child abuse and neglect in our community, and we were excited to have participants from the Boys and Girls Club of North Georgia as well. Children from Kindergarten-6th grade can color a pinwheel to submit for the Pinwheels for Prevention Coloring contest. The Coloring contest winner received a certificate and a gift bag of goodies, complete with a gift card donated from Pizza Hut in Jasper. There were 458 coloring pages submitted this year, and although we think every page was a work of art, there could only be three from each school, which made it very difficult for our judges. But one thing for sure is Pickens County has many up-and-coming artists.
